Role Overview
The Sr. Manager, Product Owner will lead digital product efforts for Schwab’s Retirement Plan Services Digital Team, with a specialized focus on modernizing back-office systems that support plan sponsors, participants, and internal operations. This role emphasizes technical leadership, operational efficiency, and end-to-end process improvement across distributed systems, leveraging Agile practices and strong collaboration with both onshore and offshore teams.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Product Leadership:
-
Own backend-focused product capabilities including batch processing, ACH workflows, distributed integrations, and end-to-end automation across retirement plan systems.

Drive root cause analysis and production support strategy, especially for high-volume, business-critical systems.

Lead the development of system enhancements that reduce risk, improve scalability, and support operational excellence.

Agile Team Management:
-
Act as Product Owner for 1–2 Agile teams, consisting of 8–9 team members, with a global delivery model (onshore/offshore).

Work closely with Scrum Masters and offshore tech leads (who act as POs’ delegates) to ensure continuous progress during overlapping hours.

Define and prioritize user stories using Behavior Driven Development (BDD) techniques, manage the backlog, and lead sprint planning and reviews.

Support Program Increment (PI) planning cycles and coordinate monthly release deployments, typically scheduled during night/early morning hours.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Partner with internal operational teams (non-client facing) to understand workflow pain points and gather business requirements.

Serve as an enabler for client-facing teams, ensuring backend capabilities align with user experience goals and compliance needs.

Translate operational needs and system dependencies into actionable technical requirements and phased releases.

Roadmap & Delivery:

Develop strategic roadmaps and OKRs aligned to business objectives and platform modernization goals.

Sequence initiatives across impacted teams, manage cross-team dependencies, and lead coordination and testing efforts for successful releases.

Maintain service-level expectations, gather feedback, and continuously evolve product capabilities based on system performance and stakeholder input.

Required Skills & Experience

Strong technical product ownership experience, particularly in financial services or ACH payment systems.

Deep understanding of retirement plan administration, batch processing, and distributed architecture.

Demonstrated success in leading global Agile teams and working with offshore/onshore models.

Ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot production issues in mission-critical environments.

Experienced in Agile ceremonies, backlog management, user story writing, and cross-functional alignment.

General knowledge in architecture with .net, angular and sql server. Experience with batch processing and file integrations
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a technical back-office or financial domain.

Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent.

Familiarity with Scaled Agile (SAFe) environments and tools like Jira, Rally, and Adobe Analytics.

Experience leading PI planning and managing production release windows during non-standard hours.
Salary : $60 - $65
