Position Overview

This role ensures proper processing, availability, and distribution of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies while maintaining quality, efficiency, and cost-effective inventory levels.

Education
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred:
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or
- Bachelor's degree in Surgical Technology
- Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with and leading teams
- Preferred:
- At least 2 years of sterile processing experience
- Experience working as a Scrub Tech or Surgical Tech in a hospital setting
- Preferred (one or more):
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician (CSPDT)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Proficiency with computers, software, and web-based applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and motivational skills
- Ability to be self-directed, organized, and goal-oriented
- Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
- Analytical skills to evaluate inventory usage and optimize supply levels
- Flexibility to work varied schedules (24/7 coverage, weekends, holidays, on-call) and travel between facilities
- Oversees daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department, including staffing, workflow, and communication
- Ensures timely processing, distribution, and availability of instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Manages inventory levels to meet patient care needs while maintaining cost efficiency
- Tracks and reports inventory transactions accurately
- Trains, develops, and motivates staff to meet departmental and organizational goals
- Adapts communication and behavior to meet the needs of diverse patient populations, including respect for privacy and appropriate patient interaction
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and facility policies
- Adheres to the organization's Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Physical Demand Level: Heavy Work
- Ability to lift 50–100 lbs occasionally, 25–50 lbs frequently, and/or 10–20 lbs constantly
- Requires prolonged standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling
- Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and specimens
- Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases
- Potential exposure to hazardous medications and hazardous waste
