If you are a veteran machinist with the technical grit to handle massive industrial components, this is the ultimate professional home. Our client is a debt-free, family-owned custom machining leader that hasn't had a layoff in over 15 years. Unlike high-volume production shops where you repeat the same task daily, this is a high-variety environment where you will work on complex, "one-off" large-scale projects.
The company invests heavily in its technology, featuring a clean facility with a modern fleet of newer HNK and Toshiba systems. They treat their employees like family, which is reflected in their remarkable 15-year average tenure, with several veterans reaching the 30-year mark. With flexible shift options and healthcare benefits starting on day one, this is a position that respects your independent setup skills and rewards your ability to solve complex, large-part challenges.
- Performing complete setups and from-scratch programming (G-Code and GibbsCAM) for Vertical Turret Lathes to execute complex boring, drilling, facing, and milling operations
- Managing large-format machining projects, safely and accurately handling components weighing several thousand pounds
- Analyzing blueprints and technical drawings to determine the optimal sequence of operations, tolerances, and tooling for custom, non-repetitive jobs
- Monitoring machining processes for peak efficiency, adjusting feeds, speeds, and offsets to ensure first-article quality on every run
- Collaborating directly with ownership and engineering to troubleshoot complex setups and improve processes for critical prototype and R&D projects
- Maintaining a safe, organized, and clean workspace according to heavy industrial standards
- Technical Mastery: 5 or more years of independent setup and machining experience specifically on CNC VTLs or very large CNC horizontal lathes
- Job Shop Background: A proven track record in a custom job-shop environment; candidates from small-part or automated production backgrounds will not fit the scope of this role
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in G-Code programming and the ability to utilize shop trigonometry for layout and verification; GibbsCAM experience is highly preferred
- Equipment Familiarity: Experience running large-scale machinery such as HNK, Toshiba, or similar large-bore equipment is a significant plus
- Stability: A reliable work history showing long-term commitment to quality and professional growth
- Requirements: Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder residing within a 45-minute commute of the Greenville/Appleton area
