The employer is a dynamic, rapidly growing, privately held contract manufacturer specializing in high-precision CNC machining, metal fabrication, and complex assemblies for top global OEMs in heavy equipment, material handling, and industrial sectors.
Experiencing tremendous momentum—more than doubling revenue in recent years with steady multi-million-dollar annual growth—the company provides exceptional job security, an average employee tenure of 5 years, and a fun, supportive workplace culture. Operating out of modern local manufacturing facilities, you will enjoy a private office space, direct collaboration with shop leadership, and the long-term potential to step into a formal leadership role as the engineering department expands.
What You Will Be Doing (Daily Responsibilities)- Serve as the primary hands-on Manufacturing Engineer for CNC operations, driving process development, cycle-time reduction, and shop-floor troubleshooting across multi-axis mills, lathes, and machining centers.
- Review customer prints, 3D models, and GD&T requirements to determine optimal machining strategies, sequence of operations, and workholding methods.
- Develop and refine process plans, setup sheets, tooling lists, and work instructions for production teams.
- Assist with fixture design, cutting tool selection, and tool trials using CAD platforms (SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD) and Mastercam CAM software.
- Partner directly with machinist operators, setup techs, and quality inspectors to resolve root-cause dimensional or finish issues and evaluate CMM reports.
- Drive continuous improvement (Lean/5S) to optimize tool life, eliminate scrap, improve process capability, and implement customer-driven revision changes.
- 3 to 4 years of Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering experience heavily focused on CNC machining, tooling, and precision metal components (castings, forgings, steel, aluminum).
- Strong technical fluency in GD&T, blueprint reading, cutting feeds and speeds, and workholding practices.
- CAD/CAM Competency: Practical experience utilizing CAM software (Mastercam strongly preferred) and standard CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD).
- Education & Experience Balance: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Technology preferred—however, a degree is NOT required if backed by strong hands-on CNC machining, setup, and process engineering depth.
- Shop-Floor Mindset: Genuine enjoyment of walking the floor, troubleshooting directly alongside machinists, and bridging office design with production realities.
- Local Commute: Residing within a comfortable daily driving radius of the Menomonee Falls, WI area.
