Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Base Expansion, and Rationalization

• Design and execute a multi-year strategic sourcing roadmap that expands IEG's qualified supplier base in the US and globally while rationalizing underperforming or redundant suppliers.
• Own end-to-end supplier rationalization: segment the existing base, exit or consolidate suppliers that do not meet cost, quality, or delivery standards, and re-award volume to strategic partners.
• Lead low-cost country source development as a core mandate, building qualified supply in Mexico, Eastern Europe, India, and Southeast Asia, including on-site qualification, first-article and PPAP-style validation, and ramp management.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new supply partners for key direct material categories, including steel, plastic resin and molded components, fabricated components, hydraulics, electrical components, and service parts.
• Establish dual-source and regional-source coverage for critical categories to reduce single-supplier risk and improve lead time performance.
• Lead RFQ, negotiation, and contracting processes for strategic categories, delivering measurable year-over-year cost savings.
• Monitor tariff, trade, and geopolitical developments and build sourcing strategies that mitigate landed cost and continuity risk.

Supplier Development and Performance Management

• Build a structured supplier development program that raises the capability of strategic partners through capacity and quality audits, corrective action management, and joint improvement plans.
• Develop supplier scorecards and a supplier relationship management cadence covering quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness, with clear consequences tied to rationalization decisions.
• Cultivate executive-level relationships with strategic suppliers to secure capacity, priority, and innovation access as IEG grows.

Commodity and Category Management

• Serve as IEG's commodity leader for steel and plastic resin, developing category strategies that manage index exposure, timing of buys, and contract structures (index-based pricing, volume commitments, and hedging mechanisms where appropriate).
• Build a category management discipline across direct and indirect spend, with clear category strategies, savings pipelines, and ownership.
• Standardize sourcing processes, templates, and approval workflows across IEG's North American divisions and acquired entities.
• Partner with Finance to establish savings tracking, PPV reporting, and total cost of ownership models that validate sourcing results.
• Support commercial teams with should-cost analysis and supplier capability insight for new product and custom quoting activity.

Supply Chain Operations Leadership

• Direct North American purchasing, planning, and inventory management through the supply chain team, ensuring service levels to operations and aftermarket parts customers.
• Advance IEG's inventory optimization program, sustaining progress toward the enterprise inventory reduction goal without degrading fill rates.
• Leverage IEG's ERP platform (DELMIAworks) and demand intelligence tools to improve forecast accuracy, buy signals, and safety stock strategy.
• Partner with the EMEA procurement and supply chain team (a peer organization, not a reporting relationship) to align global category strategies and share supplier leverage.

Acquisition and Integration Support

• Lead supply chain and supplier base integration for acquired entities, including spend analysis, supplier rationalization, and contract harmonization.
• Capture cross-entity purchasing synergies by consolidating volume with preferred partners across the IEG platform.

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, coach, and develop the North American supply chain team, with the following direct reports:

  • Buyer
  • Supply Chain & Purchasing Coordinator
• Elevate team capability in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and analytics through structured development and clear performance expectations.
• Foster a culture of proactive communication, cross-functional partnership, and data-driven decision making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Operations: align material availability, lead times, and supplier quality with production and service commitments.
• Sales and Customer Experience: provide accurate cost and lead time inputs for quoting and custom product programs.
• Finance: partner on savings validation, working capital targets, and reforecast inputs.
• Enterprise Systems and IT: ensure sourcing data, supplier records, and purchasing workflows are clean, integrated, and reportable across systems.
• EMEA Procurement and Supply Chain: partner on global category strategies, shared supplier opportunities, and combined volume leverage.

Key Goals and Metrics

• Expand the qualified supplier base with new strategic partners onboarded in priority categories within the first 12 to 18 months, including qualified low-cost country sources in production.
• Complete supplier base segmentation and execute a rationalization plan that consolidates spend with strategic partners.
• Deliver annual material cost savings against addressable spend, with steel and plastic resin category performance measured against market indices and validated with Finance.
• Achieve dual-source or regional-source coverage for the majority of critical categories.
• Sustain and advance the enterprise inventory reduction goal while maintaining or improving fill rates and on-time delivery.
• Improve supplier on-time delivery and quality performance through the scorecard program.
• Complete supplier integration and synergy capture plans for each acquisition within defined timelines.

Candidate Profile

• 10 years of progressive supply chain and procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in strategic sourcing or category management leadership.
• Deep commodity procurement expertise in steel and/or plastic resin is required, including index-based pricing, market intelligence, and contract negotiation in volatile commodity environments.
• Demonstrated success in low-cost country source development, including hands-on supplier identification, qualification, and ramp-up in regions such as Mexico, Eastern Europe, India, or Southeast Asia.
• Proven track record of supplier rationalization: consolidating fragmented supply bases, exiting underperformers, and re-awarding volume without disrupting operations.
• Experience building supplier development programs, including audits, corrective action, and capability improvement with strategic partners.
• Strong negotiation and contracting track record with documented cost savings results.
• Experience leading and developing procurement and supply chain teams.
• Working knowledge of ERP-driven purchasing and planning environments; experience with DELMIAworks, IQMS, or similar systems is a plus.
• Experience in private equity backed or high-growth acquisitive environments is strongly preferred.
• Analytical fluency with spend analysis, should-cost modeling, and supplier performance data.
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or a related field; advanced degree or CPSM/CSCP certification is a plus.
