What are the responsibilities and job description for the Application Engineer position at iMPact Business Group?
Our customer a global manufacturing leader based in Grand Rapids, Michigan is seeking an onsite Application Engineer to join their growing team!
What you'll get to do:
- Translate customer needs and requirements into technical specifications and design inputs.
- Provide technical input and oversight of activities of the Product Engineers
- Work directly with customers to define all product application requirements necessary to gain product approval for production
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure final submissions accurately include all tooling and equipment
- Ensure product design meets product cost and overall capital budget parameters and is summarized for the project leads
- Ensure test and analysis validates the design, meets requirements and is approved for production
- Solve technical issues associated with customer and product demands
- Work directly with Advance Quality Engineer (AQE) to ensure quality planning meets customer documentation needs
- Support creation and maintenance of APQP documentation, including DFMEA and DVP&R
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME, BSMET or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Applications Engineering, Product Engineering or Design Engineering
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning Tolerancing)
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, 3D CAD, and ERP system
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
