ImOn Communications has been the LOCAL choice for high-speed Internet, cable TV, and phone in Eastern Iowa since 2007. Since then, we have expanded our network to provide fiber Internet services to more than a dozen communities in Iowa and beyond! As we grow our network, we are looking for a Technical Program Manager to join our team.

The Technical Program Manager will manage complex, cross-functional programs and projects within both IT and Engineering. The Technical Program Manager ensures successful delivery of high-impact initiatives by aligning technical execution with business goals. The Technical Program Manager will manage and perform detailed technical tasks across Scope, Schedule, Budget, Quality, Documentation, Testing, Implementation, and Operationalization. They will also mitigate risk and maintain financial control throughout the lifecycle of assigned programs and projects. Strong communication, technical depth, and stakeholder engagement are essential for success. Business acumen, technical expertise and industry experience are required for this role.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Program Management/Project Management/Portfolio Management
- Oversee a suite of projects across IT and Network/Engineering disciplines.
- Partner with leadership to balance priorities, resources, risks, quality and budget to influence and deliver high profile efforts in support of the organization.
- Develop and maintain integrated program plans, timelines, and budgets while proactively managing scope, risks, issues, dependencies and stakeholder expectations.
- Create and deliver executive status reports, project level reports, KPIs, Dashboards, etc.
- Implement standardized methodologies and frameworks to ensure consistency, transparency and accountability.
IT
- OSS/BSS
- Oversee, lead and directly manage technical vendors, ensuring vendor accountability and proactive support of initiatives.
- Facilitate project level meetings, identify risks/issues, actions, next steps and drive these to closure.
- Partner with IT Management to balance corporate level projects with operational objectives and ticket management.
- Experience defining, creating, documenting, testing and implementing internal database structures and API Interfaces/Integrations to external systems is preferred.
- Experience Operationalizing completed efforts to hand over to internal teams is preferred.
Desktop
- Partner with IT management and team to develop hardware and software deployment and ticket resolution priorities and plans.
Systems Administration
- Partner with IT management and team to develop priorities and plans to support both corporate level projects and infrastructure projects concurrently along with ticket management.
Engineering
- Support network planning/engineering and corporate initiatives across carrier-grade core, edge, and access network systems as well as internet/data, voice, video products.
- Partner with leadership to create program and project plans and drive them to completion.
- Assist with CMR management.
Business Acumen
- Collaborate with stakeholders and executive leaders to understand corporate goals and objectives and translate them into program/project level requirements and deliverables.
- Assess program/project performance and provide insight to support data-driven decision making.
Leadership
- Mentor and collaborate with others while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, agility, and operational excellence.
Requirements
We are looking for people with (minimum requirements):
- Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Project Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years of technical program management/project management experience.
- Thorough understanding of project management fundamentals
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, meet established deadlines and change as business needs require.
- Good negotiation skills with customer-oriented attitude.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
It would be nice if you had (preferred qualifications):
- Telecommunications experience.
- PMP certification.
- PgMP certification.
