BILINGUAL CASEWORKER
Organization: The Immigration Project (TIP)
Job Location: 211 Landmark Dr Normal IL, 61761
Job Hours: 2:00PM - 6:00PM Fridays plus additional weekly shifts as agreed. Some flexibility but must be available 2:00-6:00 several days per week.
Position Description
Work under the direction of the Social Services Director to provide income support, social service resources, application assistance, and translation/interpretation to low-income immigrant families in downstate Illinois in compliance with federal, state, and agency programmatic guidelines.
Duties
- Provide resource information and referrals by telephone, videoconference, and in person
- Provide crisis intervention services
- Translate and interpret
- Advocating for clients to receive services; fight for social justice
- Assist with scheduling and advertising outreach events and workshops
- Communicate with clients in various languages to assess needs & program eligibility
- Complete applications for Public Benefits and other resources
- Provide clients with accurate information and assist with scheduling asylum, TPS, and other workshops
- Attend training and weekly meetings
Position Requirements
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Computer skills
- Reliable transportation
- Organized and detail-oriented
