BILINGUAL CASEWORKER

Organization: The Immigration Project (TIP)

Job Location: 211 Landmark Dr Normal IL, 61761

Job Hours: 2:00PM - 6:00PM Fridays plus additional weekly shifts as agreed. Some flexibility but must be available 2:00-6:00 several days per week.

Position Description

Work under the direction of the Social Services Director to provide income support, social service resources, application assistance, and translation/interpretation to low-income immigrant families in downstate Illinois in compliance with federal, state, and agency programmatic guidelines.

Duties

  • Provide resource information and referrals by telephone, videoconference, and in person
  • Provide crisis intervention services
  • Translate and interpret
  • Advocating for clients to receive services; fight for social justice
  • Assist with scheduling and advertising outreach events and workshops
  • Communicate with clients in various languages to assess needs & program eligibility
  • Complete applications for Public Benefits and other resources
  • Provide clients with accurate information and assist with scheduling asylum, TPS, and other workshops
  • Attend training and weekly meetings

Position Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Computer skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Organized and detail-oriented
