About the Role
The Senior UX/UI Designer is a senior individual-contributor role with a primary focus on owning the user experience and interface design of Imedview’s platform, and a complementary focus on user research. This is an ownership role: the right candidate operates independently, brings sound judgment to design decisions, and proactively identifies experience improvements without waiting to be directed.
The role owns design end to end — from understanding a workflow problem, through wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes, to supporting engineers during implementation and reviewing the shipped result. Imedview’s platform is a two-sided marketplace: an internal portal used daily by our employee operations teams, and a client-facing side serving hospitals, law firms, and insurers. The designer owns the experience on both sides and keeps them coherent. The role reports to the Head of Platform Engineering and works alongside the Product Manager, the Senior Software Engineer, and the broader team on both design and delivery.
What You’ll Do
- End-to-End Product Design: Own the design process for new features and workflow improvements — from discovery and wireframes through high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes.
- Design System & Tooling: Build and maintain Imedview’s design system in Figma or an equivalent platform (components, variables, shared libraries); deliver organized designs and prototypes ready for engineering handoff.
- Two-Sided Platform Design: Design cohesively across both sides of the platform — the internal employee portal and the client-facing side — balancing power-user efficiency for operations teams with clarity and simplicity for clients.
- Interaction Design: Design clear, efficient interactions for complex, data-heavy screens — tables, forms, scheduling, document workflows — used daily by operations teams and clients.
- Visual Design: Apply strong typography, hierarchy, color, and layout fundamentals to keep the platform consistent, professional, and easy to scan.
- Product & Engineering Collaboration: Work alongside the Product Manager on requirements, priorities, and scope; partner with engineers on feasibility, specs, and implementation details; review built UI against designs and drive polish before release.
- Accessibility & Standards: Design to WCAG accessibility standards and responsive patterns; be mindful of privacy and HIPAA considerations when designing screens that handle sensitive records.
- Documentation: Maintain design documentation, pattern guidelines, and rationale; contribute to onboarding and knowledge sharing.
- User Research: User research supports and informs the design work. The designer plans and runs lightweight, practical research with internal teams and clients to keep design decisions grounded in real workflows.
- Research Planning: Plan and conduct user interviews, usability tests, and workflow observations with internal operations staff and client users.
- Synthesis: Turn findings into journey maps, personas, and clear recommendations the team can act on.
- Feedback Loops: Establish ongoing feedback channels and usage insights; measure whether shipped designs actually improve the workflows they target.
What You Bring: Qualifications
- 5 years of UX/UI or product design experience, including senior-level ownership of shipped web applications
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma or an equivalent design platform (Sketch, Adobe XD, Penpot, or similar): components, prototyping, and developer handoff
- Experience collaborating closely with product managers and engineers through the full delivery cycle
- Designing for multiple user audiences within one product (e.g., internal teams and external clients)
- Portfolio demonstrating strong UX thinking and polished UI for web applications
- Interaction design for complex, data-heavy workflow or enterprise applications
- Strong visual design fundamentals: typography, hierarchy, color, and layout
- Translating ambiguous business requirements into clear user flows and screens
- Accessibility knowledge (WCAG) and responsive design patterns
- User research fundamentals: interviews, usability testing, and synthesis
- Operates independently with ownership of the design function
- Strong communicator across technical and non-technical teams
Nice to have:
- Additional design tools and skills welcome (Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, After Effects, Framer, illustration, motion — any strong design skill is valued)
- Experience designing for healthcare, legal, insurance, or other regulated/HIPAA environments
- Experience with B2B, enterprise, or internal operations tooling
- Front-end familiarity (HTML/CSS, design tokens) for smoother collaboration with engineers
- Experience building or scaling a design system
- Enthusiasm for AI-assisted design and prototyping tools
- Comfortable as the sole designer on a small, high-performing team
