About the Position:

IMCO General Construction is seeking a Safety Coordinator

  • Under the direction of the Area Safety Manager, this position is accountable for assisting in the implementation and oversight of the safety policies and procedures of IMCO Construction or IMCO Industrial LLC, including client requirements and local, state, and federal regulations. The primary responsibilities of this position are jobsite administration of safety and health policies and procedures, interacting with jobsite personnel regarding safety issues, and identifying and eliminating hazards and incidents.IMCO is seeking a visionary employee who has strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make confident decisions.
  • The position offers a flexible schedule and coordinates safety activities for several construction sites.

Typical duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the identification, analysis, and development of controls to eliminate or minimize occupational hazards that exist in work locations.
  • Utilize a variety of risk assessment methodologies including job hazard analysis, hazard identification (HAZID), and/or bowtie analysis to aid in development of project risk assessments, identify training needs, and coordinate implementation of project safety plans.
  • Participate and support near miss and incident reporting and investigation. Assist with development of corrective actions and follow-up on implementation.. The ability to conduct root cause analysis using 5 why and Sologic methodologies is a plus.
  • Perform HSE training and ensure training content is reviewed and updated as necessary.
  • Lead implementation of document control program into company-required databases.
  • Maintain awareness of developments in legislation that affect site operations.
  • Participate in IMCO corporate safety team meetings and support the continuous improvement process.

Schedule and Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to various construction sites depending on active project needs. Travel is primarily throughout Southern Idaho and neighboring areas. Some overnight travel may be required based on project needs. Overnight travel requirements will range between 0 and 25%.
  • Offsite work will be conducted at one of IMCOs corporate offices or from home.
  • Occasional weekend, evening, or overnight work is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting wages are $85,000 - $99,000 annually, depending on experience and certifications.
  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage is available on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.
  • 401(k) match on eligible wages is available for eligible employees on the first of the month following 60 days of employment. IMCO offers 100% contribution matching up to 4% of the employees eligible wages.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of industrial health and safety experience, or
  • Bachelors degree and 2 years of industrial health and safety experience
  • Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, nationally recognized safety certifications (e.g., BCSP, NEBOSH) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general technical aptitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Ability to pass a drug test. This is a safety-sensitive position which requires testing for THC (marijuana).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors, including occasional exposure to inclement weather
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain; access below- and above-grade work areas via ladders, ramps, slopes, or stairs
  • Ability to enter and work within confined spaces through small or restricted openings
  • Ability to perform work in industrial or construction environments with elevated noise levels, strong odors, and other typical site conditions
