Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using medical scheduling software, ensuring optimal patient flow.
- Manage incoming phone calls with professional phone etiquette, providing accurate information or directing inquiries appropriately.
- Collect and process medical payments and insurance claims.
- Maintain accurate and organized medical records, review documentation for completeness, and update electronic health records (EHR) systems regularly.
- Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and follow-up on outstanding claims to support revenue cycle management.
- Support clinical staff by handling administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing health information securely.
- Support translating for patients who speak Spanish.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role; clinic experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation review and office management tasks.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Bilingual capabilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Previous experience working in or healthcare environments involving medical billing or health information management is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping and documentation review.
