IT Network Administrator / Service Desk / Helpdesk Engineers
Company Overview:
We are a growing Managed Services Provider (MSP) delivering proactive IT support and strategic technology services to small and mid-sized businesses. Our clients rely on us to manage their full tech stack—including cloud, on-prem systems, and network infrastructure. We're looking for a highly capable Level 1 or 2 Technicians to handle more advanced issues, mentor junior techs, and take point on projects and escalations.
Position Summary:
You'll work directly with clients and systems involving Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Azure, Windows Server, and modern networking hardware. This is NOT an entry level position. As an Level 1 role with experience , you're expected to hit the ground running with minimal handholding.
Important: Although this position can involve remote work, we are looking for local candidates since onsite visits to clients are required. Please do not apply if you are not local. We are looking for individuals located in Montgomery County Maryland ( Gaithersburg, Rockville, and surrounding area )
What does the role involve?
Work together in a team to provide solutions to our customers IT challenges and escalating to more senior engineers when necessary.
Providing remote, phone and onsite support to end users
Solving technical issues related to all aspects of clients' information system including hardware and software related issues.
Here is what you will be doing in your role and the ideal candidate has a minimum of 1-3 years of work-related experience in what is listed below.
Configuring and troubleshooting issues related to end user computers hardware, Windows Servers OS , Active Directory, Office 365 admin center , Windows Client OS , Mac computers, IP address configurations, DNS, VPN , Group policy, folder permission and access, firewalls, network switches, VOIP Systems , wired and wireless network connectivity, Office application including MS Outlook and Microsoft Teams, Microsoft and VMware virtualization platforms configuration and troubleshooting.
Preferred Education Requirements:
Industry Certification /college degree in a related field or equivalent technical experience in IT.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills and must be willing to learn new technologies by following the lead of senior engineers on our team. The candidate must complete ongoing training and certification to keep up to date with upcoming technologies.
The candidate has the option of working from home but immediate onsite visits may be required to client sites in the Washington DC area .
What You'll Do
- Provide remote and occasional on-site IT support to end users
- Troubleshoot and repair Windows computers (hardware and software)
- Set up and deploy new computers and peripherals
- Support mobile devices (email, MFA, basic configuration)
- Perform user onboarding and offboarding
- Administer Active Directory users and groups
- Administer Microsoft 365 / Office 365
- User creation and licensing
- MFA setup and troubleshooting
- Basic Exchange Online and email issues
- Distribution groups / M365 groups
- Provide basic administration and support for Google Workspace
- Support file access and permissions in:
- Windows file server environments (NTFS/share permissions)
- SharePoint and OneDrive (site access, folder permissions)
- Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues
- Wired and wireless networking
- Wi-Fi setup and common wireless issues
- Support VPN connections and remote access issues
- Perform basic server troubleshooting (not design or builds)
- Work with business-class networking/security platforms such as:
- Ubiquiti, Cisco, HP Aruba, Meraki
- Fortinet, SonicWall
- Document all work clearly in the ticketing system
- Escalate complex or advanced issues appropriately
Required Experience
- 1–3 years of professional IT support experience
(MSP experience strongly preferred)
- Experience supporting end users in business environments
- Hands-on experience with:
- Windows PC troubleshooting and deployment
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Active Directory user and group management
- File server or SharePoint folder access and permissions
- Network and VPN connectivity troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tickets
- End user Support and troubleshoting
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Prior MSP experience
- Exposure to multiple firewall or Wi-Fi platforms
- Basic Windows Server support experience
- Network Cabling
