IDI is seeking a highly skilled AV Field Technician to support the installation, service, and maintenance of our innovative healthcare technology solutions. This contract-based role is ideal for a dependable, self-motivated professional with strong AV, mechanical, and electrical aptitude who thrives in a customer-facing environment and enjoys extensive travel.
As an AV Field Technician, you will work hands-on with IDI products, including our Video Integration systems, Protego Radiation Protection platform, and select surgical tables. You will interact directly with hospital staff, clinical teams, and our internal service and operations departments to deliver exceptional onsite support.
- Install, configure, test, and service IDI’s Video Integration solutions, including 4K routing systems, displays, and ancillary components.
- Install and support Protego systems, ensuring proper calibration, alignment, and end-user training.
- Perform basic to advanced service work on surgical tables, including mechanical adjustments and electrical troubleshooting.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, AV, DC, and AC electrical issues efficiently and safely.
- Provide high-quality customer communication before, during, and after each job.
- Document all service activities, including reports, photos, and system configurations.
- Maintain a professional presence onsite while representing IDI’s standards and values.
- Coordinate logistics, travel, and onsite schedules with the IDI Field Operations team.
- Ensure all work complies with safety, hospital, and OEM guidelines.
- 3–5 years of experience in AV installation, field service, biomedical, mechanical/electrical service, or similar technical field.
- Strong understanding of DC and AC electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, and AV signal flow.
- Experience with mechanical assemblies and precision adjustments.
- Computer proficiency (networking basics, configuration utilities, firmware updates, remote support tools).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer-service mindset and professionalism.
- High reliability, strong follow-through, and the ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass required background and hospital vendor credentialing checks.
- Must be located near a major airport and willing/able to travel 80% of the time.
- Previous experience in hospital or clinical environments.
- Experience with surgical equipment, medical device integration, or radiation protection systems.
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to read technical diagrams and schematics.
- Frequent nationwide travel, often Monday–Friday with occasional weekend requirements.
- Lifting, carrying, and moving equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Work performed in hospital ORs, procedure rooms, and mechanical/storage areas.
- Ability to stand, kneel, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces during installations.
- Contract position with competitive hourly compensation.
