Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Accountant with a strong background in managing the full accounting lifecycle for real estate development projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cost tracking, cash flow forecasting, financial reporting, construction accounting, and ERP systems such as Yardi. Experience with affordable housing and tax credit accounting (LIHTC, HTC, NMTC) is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full accounting lifecycle for real estate development projects. Perform cost tracking, reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Maintain General Ledger (GL) and Job Cost Accounting records.
- Prepare and manage construction loan draws, equity draws, and bank reconciliations.
- Oversee Construction-in-Progress (CIP) accounting and ensure accurate project cost reporting.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes while maintaining compliance with accounting standards.
- Work with ERP systems, preferably Yardi or similar real estate accounting software.
- Assist with affordable housing and tax credit accounting, including LIHTC, HTC, and NMTC (preferred).
- Collaborate with project managers, lenders, and stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and project success.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience in Development Accounting or Real Estate Accounting
- Strong knowledge of the full accounting lifecycle for real estate development projects
- Experience with:
- Cost tracking & reconciliation
- Cash flow forecasting
- Financial reporting
- General Ledger & Job Cost Accounting
- Experience preparing and managing:
- Construction loan draws
- Equity draws
- Bank reconciliations
- Construction-in-Progress (CIP) accounting
- (Preferred) Experience with Affordable Housing or Tax Credit Accounting such as:
- Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC)
- Historic Tax Credits (HTC)
- New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC)
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Yardi or similar Real Estate ERP
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
