ABOUT THE ROLE
ILWU Credit Union is seeking an experienced HR Generalist / HR Business Partner to serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees in a unionized environment.
This role blends hands-on HR execution with consultative partnership. You’ll support recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, engagement, and CBA administration while ensuring people processes are compliant, consistent, and aligned with organizational values.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Serve as first-line HR partner to managers
• Coach leaders on performance management & documentation
• Support employee relations and workplace investigations
• Interpret and apply Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) provisions
• Support grievance processes and union–management coordination
• Own full-cycle recruiting from planning through offer
• Lead onboarding and employee integration
• Maintain HRIS records, support audits, and ensure compliance with employment laws
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• 4–7 years of progressive HR experience
• Experience supporting union-represented employees / CBA environments
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
• Experience managing full-cycle recruiting
• Strong communication, judgment, and influencing skills
• Ability to balance operational execution with consultative support
Salary Range (Long Beach, CA)
$65,000 - $95,000 annually
Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including prolonged computer use, facilitating meetings (in-person and virtual), and occasional travel to branch locations.
