What are the responsibilities and job description for the BRANCH MANAGER position at ILWU CREDIT UNION?
The Branch Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the branch and assists the Branch Services Manager with managerial and administrative functions. You will lead the Member Services team in building and maintaining solid relationships with the Members; supervise, train, coach, monitor, and provide guidance and assistance to the Member Services team; maintain the standard of compliance and security while ensuring the delivery of excellent service in every member interaction; reinforce the Credit Union’s Sales and Service culture by supporting the Member Services team in cross-selling products and services.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Management
- Oversees the daily responsibilities of the Member Services Team including teller and platform transactions/services
- Maintains a highly motivated and well-trained staff through managing and coaching team to success.
- Evaluates the knowledge and effectiveness of the branch team and their service to the membership
- Responsible for hiring, scheduling, training team for efficient workflow, proper branch coverage, and high service levels.
- Assigns, directs, coordinates, and review daily responsibilities of team members.
- Coaches team to support personal development, areas of improvement, employee engagement, and increased knowledge across all Credit Union departments.
- Applies and evaluates policies and procedures established for the branch
- Monitors branch activity, including number of transactions, volume, teller errors, and new accounts
- Oversees the effective operation and performance of the ATM machines and Teller Cash Dispatch (TCD)/Vault.
- Assigns team to assist Business Development in the community and SEG events to increase membership, deposits, and loan growth.
- Fosters teamwork with all departments.
- Supports all branches with branch coverage, branch balancing, and opening and closing branches.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensures Credit Union compliance with all state and federal regulations pertaining to department and incorporates these compliance requirements into departmental policy and procedures which include, but are not limited to Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. CC, and Patriot Act.
- Maintains an expert level of understanding of state and federal regulations and ensures branch compliance with all.
- Ensures the internal controls are adequately reviewed (i.e. FM Reports, audit reviews, out of balance occurrences, etc.) to limit exposure to fraud and keep financial losses to a minimum.
- Reviews departmental policies and procedures for compliance, service quality, process improvement, and operational efficiencies and shares changes with Branch Services Manager
- Conducts branch audits and makes recommendations for operational improvement as needed.
- Authorizes exceptions to normal policy or procedure when warranted based on established limits
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintains a high-level of knowledge and procedural expertise in all credit union products and services.
- Works with branch team to meet/exceed established service goals
- Serves as a point of escalation to assist employee and member requests, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally. Keeps management informed of all department operations.
- Reviews, identifies, analyzes, and recommends process/workflow changes to improve and maintain the highest level of operational efficiency.
- Adheres to the training curriculum for branch personnel.
- Ensures training materials are updated and relevant.
- Performs specific and delegated duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of 4 years prior related branch supervisory experience within a credit union or banking environment
- Ability to effectively delegate and direct team to complete tasks along with a working knowledge of managing/coaching techniques to enhance team/branch productivity and maintain positive team morale
- Must be bondable.
- Extensive knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing a financial institution.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experienced in team member coaching, mentoring, and training.
- Must be approachable, friendly, and congenial, but firm and fair when necessary.
- Self-motivated and self-directed. Ability to work independently and assume accountability for area of responsibility.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to generate and analyze research data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Capacity to maintain accuracy and promptly complete duties with a high degree of attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
- Competently analyze, design, and provide recommendations on the processes and service delivery efficiencies.
- Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, Windows, and Outlook and Internet, with ability to adapt to new technology.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding Credit Union records and data, protect and adhere to member privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
- Must be willing and able to travel between branches.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Work Environment
Most work is performed in an air-conditioned and heated office environment with exposure to basic office equipment and typical moderate office noise.
