- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering
- 5–10 years of packaging engineering experience
- Technical depth in packaging materials, formats, or processes
- Advanced understanding of the packaging development and qualification process (stage gate)
- Proven ability to lead packaging qualifications, line trials, and validation activities
- Strong communication and project management skills
The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for leading complex packaging projects, ensuring performance, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. This role partners with cross-functional teams to design, qualify, and optimize packaging solutions for new and existing products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead packaging qualification activities: generate protocols, oversee testing, analyze data, and author reports
- Provide technical expertise for risk assessments and root cause analyses related to packaging
- Improve and standardize packaging designs to balance performance and cost
- Plan and execute Design of Experiments (DOE); perform statistical analysis and prepare final reports
- Initiate and coordinate packaging line trials, including planning, execution, and post-trial review
- Partner with purchasing and production to evaluate feasibility and costs of proposed packaging solutions
- Influence internal and external stakeholders to support packaging initiatives
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and performance improvements in packaging systems
- Review, update, and maintain packaging specifications and documentation
- Ensure packaging and labeling meet all qualification and validation requirements
- Travel as needed to facilitate trials at manufacturing or supplier sites
- Strong technical expertise in packaging engineering
- Advanced knowledge of packaging regulations, validation, and qualification requirements
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
