Rutland, Vermont | $115,000 to $145,000
A hospital-owned OB/GYN practice in Rutland, Vermont is seeking a full-scope Certified Nurse Midwife to join a collaborative care team of four OB/GYN physicians and a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. The practice supports approximately 300 births annually and works closely with the hospital's nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and pediatricians. This is a full-time, on-site position within an established women's health services division.
Schedule
Full-time, on-site. Call responsibilities include first call for OB and Gyn patients, structured as one 24-hour weekday call shift per week and one weekend call shift per month. A dedicated office adjacent to the Labor and Delivery unit is provided for on-call use.
Compensation
$115,000 to $145,000 annually, based on experience, procedural skill set, and training background.
What You'll Do
This role provides full-scope midwifery care across the reproductive lifespan, from adolescence through menopause, including wellness, reproductive, and gynecological health management. The CNM will deliver autonomous and collaborative intrapartum care, managing labor and delivery at the adjacent medical center and coordinating with nursing, respiratory therapy, and pediatric staff. The position involves evidence-based practice with a focus on patient safety, quality improvement, and patient education, along with timely and compliant electronic charting in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license through the Vermont State Board of Nursing (or immediate eligibility to obtain prior to hire)
- Active, unrestricted Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) license through the Vermont State Board of Nursing (or immediate eligibility to obtain prior to hire)
- Current national certification through the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Active DEA registration (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife
- Experience with ultrasound assessment and interpretation
- Proficiency with GYN procedures, including IUD and Nexplanon insertion, minor incision and drainage, and colposcopy
- Experience serving as first assist at cesarean sections
- Experience working across both outpatient clinic and hospital-based acute labor and delivery settings
