Statement of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Advise students on immigration and visa regulations, university procedures and travel procedures related to academics and University employment.
- Facilitate and process immigration document requests from students by serving as Designated School Official (DSO) for the University of Illinois’ F-1/F-2 program, and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the University of Illinois’ J-1/J-2 program.
- Process the results of data extractions from the University database, ISSS database, and Homeland Security’s SEVIS system. Identify students requiring specialized follow-up in order to maintain valid immigration status through course registration, departmental reporting, or other university related procedures to comply with federally mandated reporting requirements.
- Organize or assist with federally mandated new student check in and/or airport transportation and/or orientation as part of the new international student experience, including the possible supervision of student employees.
