Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with urgent care experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality psychiatric care in both outpatient and urgent care settings, addressing acute mental health needs and supporting continuity of care. In addition to psychiatric responsibilities, the provider will also manage non-psychiatric walk-in patients presenting to the urgent care, ensuring comprehensive and timely treatment for a variety of acute medical concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and urgent mental health assessments.
- Diagnose and treat psychiatric conditions including mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, and substance use disorders.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services.
- Manage non-psychiatric walk-in patients, including minor injuries, infections, and other acute medical issues.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Educate patients and families on mental health and general medical conditions.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatry.
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Active Illinois APRN and RN licenses.
- DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in psychiatric care, with urgent care or emergency medicine experience preferred.
- Ability to manage both psychiatric and general medical presentations.
- Proficiency in EHR systems and telehealth platforms.
