In support of this vision, the Sign Shop Supervisor assist the Sign Shop Manager with the organization and operation of the Sign Shop Unit, including but not limited to, sign installation and maintenance, sign fabrication, traffic count activities, roadway surveys, capital improvement project work, and the gathering of other essential information.
Essential Job Functions
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Sign Shop Manager in scheduling activities for timely completion of assignments
- The incumbent assists with the guidance of the Sign Makers/Hangers, who are responsible for, fabricating, maintaining and installing signs, performing pavement marking, traffic counts, and for being available for emergency call out
- Help the Sign Shop Manager with the planning of daily schedules and the preparation of the budget by gathering information from inventory data, roadway surveys and other Authority personnel
- Organize fabrication efforts with staff, contractors, project managers and engineers to ensure projects are complete, on-time, within budget and in accordance with Federal Standards
- Schedule meetings and demonstrations to provide personnel with a safe working environment that also enhance their job performance
- Coordinate and support the General Consultant’s Overhead Truss Inspection efforts to ensure work and inspection repairs are performed in a timely manner with a focus on customer safety
- Review construction plans, develop material needs, ensure staff has the necessary materials to perform work
- Provide direction and training to crew members to assure completion of assignments and to assure a safe working environment
- Assume all duties and responsibilities as required to carry out daily operations, in the absence of the Sign Shop Manager
- Maintain on-call availability 24 hours a day 7 days a week for signing emergencies and snow events
- Organize sign storage efforts and ensure all signs are properly disbursed to the proper contractor
- Manage different Maintenance Sections during Snow events
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education (Required)
- High School Diploma, G.E.D., or the Equivalent of Education and Experience
Education (Preferred)
- Associates Degree and Beyond
Skills and Experience (Required)
- Five years of signing experience in a high speed, limited access highway environment
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with computers and Microsoft applications
- Successful passage of the written test taken prior to an initial interview

Salary : $95,000 - $100,000
