The Windows System Administrator is a full time position on the IT Engineering Team at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. The IT Engineering team is tasked with providing server and network infrastructure services. Off-hour remote and on-site support is required as necessary.

This position is a full-time, exempt, 12-month, employment-at-will position. Salary regionally commensurate with training and experience in like-institutions with a range of $81,500 to $99,500. IMSA offers a comprehensive state benefits package (major medical, dental, vision, and prescription) with rates found here, a generous paid time off plan, and a retirement plan through the State University Retirement System (SURS). SURS is reciprocal with other Illinois public retirement systems such as the Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois (TRS) and the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).

- Co-responsibility for operation of Windows and Linux servers used in the Academy computing system
- Co-responsibility for the operation of the core services provided (email, web, directory, file and print, etc.)
- Assist in operation of network infrastructure
- Build and implement new systems per specifications
- Planning and implementing system upgrades, application updates, product evaluation and purchase recommendations
- Maintenance and security patch management
- System monitoring via tools, log analysis and reports
- Co-manage disk storage sub-systems (RAID, SAN)
- Performing regular system preventative maintenance
- Performance analysis and system tuning
- System and service integration
- Create technical documentation as required
- Other duties as assigned
The Required qualifications for this position include
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the information technology field.
- Proven working experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows based servers.
- 5 years’ experience with Windows Server OS versions; 2016, 2019, 2022
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, IIS and Windows networking.
- 5 years managing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server/Databases and working in SQL Server Management Studio
- Good familiarity with system and network protocols (DNS, DHCP, SMTP, HTML, SSH, NFS, etc.)
- Experience working with Dell Hardware and Dell Storage
- Familiarity with AI Platform and AI Tools
- Experience with installing, configuring and administration of WSUS for patch management.
- Experience with administering virtualization and storage infrastructure (VMware ESXi 8.0 and VSAN)
- Experience with administering Omnissa(VMware) Horizon environments
- Working knowledge of Crowdstrike Falcon platform
- Experience with administering JumpCloud Directory Services
- Experience with Nagios based products (Nagios, Nagios Log Server)
- Ability to program in administrative scripting languages, such as Powershell, VBscript, Perl, Python
- Experience providing 2nd and 3rd tier technical support
- Excellence in problem-solving skills

- MCSA - Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate
- MCSE - Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
- Experience with Egnyte Platform
- Intermediate experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x and 8.x
- Experience with Tableau or equivalent experience with Business Intelligence software
- Experience with Veeam Backup and Replication
- Familiarity with Single Sign Solutions - Onelogin
- Experience with network operating systems, especially Cisco switching and routing.
