THE OPPORTUNITY (POSITION OVERVIEW) Reporting to the Site Director and under the direction and supervision of the Director of Student Support and Leadership, the Student Support Speech & Language Pathologist will be responsible for assessing and identifying communication disorders and collaborating with learners and families on intervention that is appropriate to the age and learning needs of each individual.
Requirements / Qualifications
Master’s Degree from an accredited school of speech-language pathology or communicative disorders. Certificate: American Speech Hearing Language Association Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech pathology or audiology. License: State License issued by State of California Board of Medical Quality Assurance Speech Pathology and Audiology Examining Committee. Supervision CEUs for SLPa supervision course work as required by the SLPAB. Two years of related experience.
Experience in educating special needs learners. Knowledge and understanding of state, local and federal regulations and policies affecting special education. Ability to work under pressure, assess priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse groups of individuals including learners, parents, staff, and the community. Experience with an education setting and/or real-world experience in being non-traditional, flexible, open minded, and collaborative. Ability to problem solve and multi-task. Ability to cooperate successfully as a member of a team. Demonstrated capability to maintain effective relationships in a team-oriented environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written. Very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness. Thrive in a collaborative, team based and fast-paced environment. Maintain confidentiality of learners and their records. Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships with learners, learners with special needs, parents, facilitators, care team, and administration. Demonstrate standards of moral character and behavior to serve as an effective role model for learners. Ability to work well and deal tactfully with administrators, employees, parents, learners and the public.
