SUMMARY Serves food and beverages to guests in a friendly, courteous and professional manner according to established rules of procedure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Greets guests promptly, suggesting food courses and answering questions regarding food preparation, ingredients, preparation time, appearance and taste.
Answers questions on beverages or wine, including characteristics, descriptions and appropriateness of wines to various food items.
Relays food and beverage orders to appropriate station via computerized P.O.S. system.
Picks up, garnishes and delivers food and beverages in the prescribed manner.
Anticipates and responds to any additional guest requests and determines when meal has been completed.
Processes bill, in a timely manner, including additions and omissions, checks correct pricing and receives payment from guests. Thanks departing guests and bids them a pleasant day/evening.
Performs sidework as directed, to keep the restaurant clean, orderly and well stocked.
Works as a team player; assumes a pleasant and helpful attitude toward guests and fellow co-workers to ensure guest satisfaction. Exemplifies the company's core values of honesty, integrity, respect, commitment and quality.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Prior restaurant or customer service experience commensurate with position.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES State law may require certifications to handle food and/or serve alcoholic beverages.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as menus, safety rules, training instructions and employee policies and procedures. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small groups of customers and other co-workers. Must be fluent in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and able to perform these operations using units of American money.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to recognize and resolve problems in standard situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES General social ability and salesmanship; ability to communicate well with customers, while being well mannered and professional. Professional and well groomed appearance appropriate for the business of the restaurant. Ability to learn Italian pronunciation of names and ingredients of all products.
