Duties
- Assist with meal preparation and food production, ensuring all items meet quality and safety standards
- Operate food preparation equipment safely and efficiently, including slicers, mixers, and other kitchen tools
- Perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of ingredients and supplies with proper technique
- Slice, chop, and prepare ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety management practices
- Serve customers at the deli counter with friendly, attentive service while accurately handling transactions
- Support catering events by preparing food items according to specifications and assisting with setup
Skills
- Strong knife skills with the ability to slice accurately and efficiently
- Experience in meal preparation, cooking, or food production in a restaurant or food industry setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and safe handling practices in a commercial kitchen environment
- Ability to perform basic math for portioning, measuring ingredients, and cash handling during serving
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude towards guests and team members
- Familiarity with food preparation equipment operation and maintenance
- Physical ability for heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and manual handling tasks
- Attention to sensory evaluation for quality control of food items
- Prior catering or culinary experience is a plus for this role
