Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of deli foods including slicing meats, cheeses, and preparing salads or sandwiches with precision and care
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, offering recommendations, and upselling products to enhance the shopping experience
- Operate POS systems for accurate cash handling and sales transactions
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with food safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices
- Restock shelves, organize displays, and ensure the deli area is attractive and well-stocked at all times
- Assist with food preparation tasks like portioning ingredients, wrapping products, and managing inventory levels efficiently
- Support other store functions such as cashiering, bussing tables, or helping in the grocery section as needed to ensure smooth store operations
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service, retail grocery stores, or quick service & fast food restaurants is preferred but not required; enthusiasm to learn is key!
- Strong skills in food preparation, food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures to ensure high-quality standards are met
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and ability to engage with diverse customers
- Good time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and inventory management
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights regularly, and work in a fast-paced environment
