Key ResponsibilitiesConduct field surveys using total stations, GNSS (GPS), laser levels with Lenker rods, 3D scanners, and drones to capture accurate site data.Set accurate and reliable control networks. Set control points that are protected from unintentional damage by heavy equipment and yard operations. Document locations of new control points and found (existing) control points.Process and edit point clouds from 3D scanning (terrestrial and aerial) for use in design and modeling. Create new site plans as well as verify, correct, and update existing site plans using 3D scan/LiDAR data.Import and integrate survey data into AutoCAD and Civil 3D to produce surfaces, alignments, grading, and utility layouts.Perform site layout for construction, utility installation, grading, and structural support elements.Support engineering teams with accurate field measurements and as-built documentation.Create and edit detailed drawings, survey plans, topographic maps, and construction control documents.Assist with quality control and data validation to ensure accuracy of survey deliverables.Coordinate with project managers, designers, and field personnel to ensure smooth project execution and data flow.Operate and maintain survey instruments and equipment, ensuring calibration and proper function.Use Civil 3D tools to generate surfaces, corridors, pipe networks, and alignments based on survey and design inputs.Prepare reports, sketches, and field notes to communicate findings and support design reviews.Qualifications5 years of field surveying and engineering support experience in civil, industrial, or construction environments.Proficiency operating survey equipment including total stations, GNSS, laser levels, 3D scanners, and drones.Ability to locate existing city or county monuments and benchmarks and how to tie in existing surveys. Knowledge of ArcGIS or QGIS.Strong organizational skills with the ability to take good field notes during surveys and other fieldwork.Strong skills with AutoCAD and Civil 3D for drafting and modeling. Familiar with other software in the Autodesk AEC software suite, including Revit.Experience processing and editing point cloud data (LiDAR or 3D scanning). Proficiency with Leica Cyclone Register 360, Pix4D, DJI Terra, and/or Recap Pro for cleaning, processing, and classifying raw LiDAR data.Comfortable performing site layout and construction staking.Ability to interpret engineering sketches, survey data, and field notes.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with multidisciplinary project teams.Strong planning skills and ability to coordinate surveys with yard management, minimizing impact on yard operations. Ability to adapt and deal with delays and unforeseen challenges.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently between sites. Willingness to survey during atypical hours or on weekends based on needs, weather, site operations, and other factors.Able to lift, carry, and move heavy, fragile survey equipment multiple times. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
