Main Responsibilities / Objectives
This is a full-time in-office role for an Accounting Manager located in Rainsville, Alabama.
- Lead the insourcing of bookkeeping, payroll, accounting and financial reporting functions currently performed by the company’s CPA. Included in the scope of this phased project are accounts payable, payroll and benefits administration, statutory and regulatory reporting (payroll tax, prescription tax…), general accounting and monthly financial reporting. The incumbent will gradually assume direct responsibility for these functions.
- Implement and maintain the company’s chart of accounts and cost center structure, taking into account statutory/regulatory requirements and management reporting needs.
- Boost internal controls for expenditures by standardizing processes, implementing appropriate checks and segregation of duties within the department, as well as necessary company policies & procedures. Company procedures should include proposing and implementing more efficient and cost-effective methods.
- Propose cost savings opportunities to management.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are appropriately recorded, that accounts are completely reconciled, and that the company’s financial statements are accurate.
- In collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Manager, implement and lead the monthly close procedure, culminating in the production and analysis of monthly financial statements.
- In collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Manager, review the existing product and customer hierarchies and propose improvements when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Education - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience - a minimum of 5 years experience in an accounting role; previous experience in a managerial or supervisory accounting role is preferred.
- Technical Skills - Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online (standard configuration, utilization, reporting) and advanced Excel skills;
- Analytical Skills – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Organizational Skills - Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Communication Skills – Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to stakeholders.
- This position requires an autonomous self-starter, capable of conceiving and implementing an accounting framework with minimal guidance.
Salary and Benefits
Salary is based on experience and qualifications, with opportunities for bonuses based on individual performance and the company's financial performance.
