What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Manager position at IHOP?
Our successful restaurant is seeking an organized, detail-oriented and experienced Kitchen Manager to fill our open role. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for conducting the daily activities of the kitchen and overseeing food operations. Typical Duties Include:
- Manage inventory of food & restaurant supplies and place orders
- Supervise daily food quality, food preparation and food storage
- Monitor health and food safety regulations
- Maintain a clean kitchen area and workspace
- Organize a budget based on food costs and current usage
- Communicate status of kitchen operations to the general manager
- Monitor kitchen equipment for repairs
- Recruit, hire and train kitchen employees and back of house staff
- Create the weekly kitchen employee work schedule
- Conduct training on new kitchen requirements and techniques
- Report to restaurant managers and owners about kitchen costs and operations
Requirements:
- 2 years of restaurant management or food service management
- Management skills and experience
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Food protection manager certification
- Prior local/state inspection awareness experience
- Past restaurant manager experience
