What will we ask of you?
- Prepare food according to IHOP SOP manuals
- Learn our IHOP-specialized galley terminology and menu item abbreviations to communicate effectively with your team members
- Master the cooking procedures, galley utensils, equipment use, and methodologies
- Complete the IHOP Academy training program
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work station and storage areas
- Comply with all safety and sanitation standards
- Adhere to IHOP uniform and appearance standards
- Perform other assigned tasks as needed
Who qualifies for this job?
- Six months to one year of related experience as a line cook or prep cook
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions
- Good oral communication skills in English and ability to read English or Spanish
- Basic math skills for following recipes
- Knowledge of food safety guidelines
- Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail
- At least 17 years old to operate kitchen equipment
What must you physically be able to do?
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, reach, and lift up to 100 lbs. during a shift
- Use hands and fingers to handle objects and tools
- Talk, hear, taste, and smell to maintain food safety and service standards
- Have close up and distant vision ability
What conditions will you be expected to work in?
- Regular exposure to cooking fumes or airborne particles
- Frequent work with moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, open flames, and hot liquids
- Moderate noise levels
