Engineering Supervisor - Charleston Marriott

About This Job:

As the Engineering Supervisor at the Charleston Marriott, you lead a team of engineers in maintaining and improving the hotel's facilities. You ensure the safety and comfort of our guests by overseeing the efficient operation of all building systems. Your role is critical in upholding the hotel's standards of excellence and providing a seamless experience for our guests.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervises and coordinates the activities of the engineering team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
• Directs and oversees the completion of work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Manages the maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
• Troubleshoots and repairs complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the hotel, identifying areas needing repair or maintenance.
• Manages vendor relationships and oversees contractor work.
• Develops and implements energy conservation programs.
• Maintains accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
• Responds to guest requests and resolves maintenance-related issues promptly and efficiently.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical certification or degree in a related field preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility management or building maintenance required.
• Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience required.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Proficient in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated supervisory and team leadership abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Marriott brand standards and systems.
• Certified Engineering Operations Executive (CEOE) or similar certification.

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and noise.
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
