Position summary:
The CNC Machinist I assists with the set-up, operation, and programming of computer numerical control (CNC) equipment used to produce precision parts and instruments. Work performed is basic and performed under direct supervision.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Assists with planning machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters
- Provides input in Interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
- Supports programming machining equipment, including calculating requirements using basic math and trigonometry
- Machines parts to specification using CNC machining equipment
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

Workdays and shifts:
Position works Monday – Thursday 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM or Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or Monday – Friday 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Job training will be daylight hours Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Education/Certification(s)/License(s) required:
High School Diploma or GED; and/or equivalent work experience.
Experience/Other required:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Accreditation from a technical school or skilled trades program
- Knowledgeable math and trigonometry skills
- Working knowledge of G&M programming code editing
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting dimensioned blueprints and hand measuring tools
- Familiarity with basic machining setups
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a CNC machinist apprenticeship program
- 6 months of experience in a similar role
- Prior experience making tool wear, tool, and work offsets
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is performed in an air-conditioned manufacturing environment
- Work is performed around moving mechanical parts and a moderately high noise level
Standing, sitting, bending, lifting up to 40 pounds, and performing repetitive motions is required

Full-time; 40 hours
