Ignite is currently seeking a driven, detail-oriented Jr Systems / Software Safety Engineer. This position will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of safety programs by working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and mitigate hazards throughout the system lifecycle. This role requires direct application of MIL-STD-882E principles to assist in conducting and documenting a variety of hazard analyses, to include developing and tracking mitigation measures according to the system safety design order of precedence. Development of safety documentation including Safety Assessment Reports, risk assessments, and safety incident root cause analysis required to functionally support the safety of product portfolio.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree (or Master’s) in Engineering (systems or safety) discipline and 0-3 years of relevant experience is required.
- Candidates should have basic knowledge of safety principles, regulations, and practices including experience carrying out hazard mitigation techniques as well as conducting risk analysis on weapons systems.
- Experience with application of system safety policies within programs using agile software development, Model Based System Engineering and/or Air and Missile Defense systems is a plus
- Candidate must be experienced with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with JIRA/Confluence or MBSE tools (Cameo/MagicDraw) a plus.
- Candidate must be able to think independently and be self-motivated, with proven organizational skills, ability to multi-task and support varied assignments.
