Job Summary:
The Recreation Assistant is a role model for consumers. The Recreation Assistant’s actions and interactions are based on mutual respect, communication and teamwork while teaching Activities of Recreation and Daily Living (ADL). The Assistant will provide hands on physical assistance for all activities that the consumer does not complete independently.
Duties and Responsibilities
E- Connotes Essential Functions
E-1 Creates calendars for Manorville Group Day Hab
E-2 Participates, plans, organizes evening recreation program and annual residential camping trip with Coordinator of Recreation
E-3 Participates, organizes special events with Coordinator of Recreation for Day Programs and Residences
E-4 Coordinates special functions such as dinner dances, ball game tickets, talent shows, kayak challenge, Knights of Columbus Events and other recreation functions
E-5 Participates in the training of new hire along with Residential Managers
6- Reviews and recommends program changes regarding recreation as needed
7- Liaison between Day Program recreation therapy, residential recreation programs and all other recreation services and administration
8- Oversees the purchase of all recreation supplies (P.O’s and check requests)
9- Member of various agency committees
10- Attends and participates in clinic and appropriate department meetings
11- Enforce and adhere to all safety policies and procedures
12- All other duties as assigned
Position Requirements and Qualifications
· High School Diploma/GED
· Valid NYS Driver’s license
· Complete and maintain SCIP, Adult CPR, AMAP and Driver’s certifications, as per IGHL policy
· Must have a personal smart phone to be used for work purposes
· Work regularly scheduled days, including those that fall on holidays
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs. at least five times per hour
· Able to sit, stand or bend throughout the day
· Enthusiastic team player that handles stressful situations professionally with ease
