Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and file import entries in compliance with regulations from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
- Review import documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading for accuracy and completeness.
- Classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) and ensure proper tariff application.
- Process and calculate import duties, taxes, and applicable government fees, ensuring accurate reporting and payment to CBP.
- Prepare and review entry summaries (CBP Form 7501) and verify duty calculations prior to submission.
- Communicate with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), clients, carriers, and internal teams to obtain required documentation and resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to customs inquiries and assist with resolving customs holds, exams, or requests for additional information.
- Monitor shipments to ensure timely customs clearance and delivery.
- Maintain accurate and organized entry records for compliance and audit purposes.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or import operations.
- Working knowledge of import documentation and customs clearance procedures.
- Experience using CargoWise or similar customs entry software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Experience with ABI filing systems.
- Knowledge of Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements.
- Experience handling high-volume entries in a brokerage or logistics environment.
