Job Summary:
The Technical Operations Director leads and manages field operations for a company serving ~50,000 customers. The role ensures high-quality service delivery, operational efficiency, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. The position oversees technical staff, contractors, and all aspects of field installation, repair, and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage technical staff, providing direction, coaching, and performance oversight.
- Collaborate with engineering to develop performance standards, tools, and materials.
- Optimize scheduling and workloads for efficiency.
- Ensure service quality for video, data, and phone systems.
- Resolve customer and operational issues effectively.
- Develop and monitor operational and capital budgets.
- Prepare reports and analyses for leadership.
- Implement training programs and staff development initiatives.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and safe work environment.
- Handle critical responsibilities during emergencies or unusual circumstances.
- Ensure compliance with EEO and regulatory standards.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Interview, hire, and train employees.
- Assign work, appraise performance, and provide rewards or discipline as needed.
- Address complaints and resolve problems in accordance with policies and laws.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years progressive experience managing a technical operations department in a moderately sized cable or telecom environment.
- Experience in operational planning and leadership development.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and make effective decisions under deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Experience dealing with difficult customers and recommending process improvements.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, computer science, electronics, or related field preferred.
