Job Title: Paint Associate

Our state-of-the-art facility includes automated paint lines, powder-coat systems, ovens, wash tunnels, and advanced material-handling equipment. Job Overview:

The Paint Associate is responsible for supporting daily painting and coating operations, ensuring parts are properly prepared, coated, cured, inspected, and moved through the production process. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining high-quality finishes, consistent production flow, and adherence to paint specifications. The Paint Associate works closely with Production Leads, Quality Inspectors, and Material Handlers to achieve safety, quality, and throughput goals.

Key Responsibilities

Painting & Coating Operations:

  • Prepare parts for coating by cleaning, masking, hanging, or racking components.
  • Operate paint line equipment, including powder-coat guns, sprayers, wash systems, and curing ovens.
  • Apply coatings according to specifications, color standards, and thickness requirements.
  • Monitor paint line performance and communicate issues such as clogs, uneven coating, or equipment malfunctions.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect coated parts for defects such as scratches, thin spots, runs, or contamination.
  • Follow quality standards and use gauges when required (DFT meters, visual checks).
  • Report nonconformances and support corrective actions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization to prevent paint contamination.

Material Handling & Production Support:

  • Hang, unhang, stage, and move parts as needed to support continuous paint line flow.
  • Ensure proper tracking of parts, job numbers, and quantities throughout the process.
  • Assist in loading/unloading paint line fixtures and racks safely.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow all PPE requirements including respirators, gloves, and protective clothing when applicable.
  • Handle chemicals, paints, and cleaning materials safely and according to training.
  • Adhere to OSHA, environmental, and company safety procedures.
  • Participate in safety audits, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Equipment Care & Housekeeping:

  • Perform basic cleaning of paint booths, guns, filters, and work areas.
  • Assist in routine maintenance tasks as directed by supervisors.
  • Maintain 5S standards for paint areas, storage, and equipment.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Work closely with supervisors, material handlers, and quality teams to support efficient paint operations.
  • Communicate production issues, supply needs, or workflow delays promptly.
  • Support training and cross-training initiatives as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidate should have some or all of the following educational/technical attributes:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in painting, powder coating, industrial coating, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Basic understanding of paint systems, curing processes, and surface preparation.
  • Ability to use basic measurement tools (e.g., thickness gauges) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with safety practices related to chemicals, coatings, and industrial equipment.

  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to handle parts with care.

  • Ability to follow instructions, standard work, and quality guidelines consistently.
