Job Summary: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for Engendren’s procurement activities including material and services purchasing, vendor relations, supplier evaluation, contract/proposal preparation, negotiations, specification development, and order processing and management. This individual receives broad work assignments under general supervision and resolves most problems with limited supervisory assistance. The Purchasing Manager is charged with ensuring that the raw materials, goods, and services required to manufacture Engendren products are procured in a timely and cost-effective manner without exception. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager must be above reproach, demonstrating the highest ethical conduct in the completion of his/her duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary:
- Plans, organizes and directs all Engendren Purchasing activities.
- Analyzes market conditions to determine material availability for a specific time and use.
- Research’s suppliers based on assessed capabilities, business ethics, past performance, price, delivery record, and product quality.
- Evaluates vendor quotations based on quality, price, delivery, and service.
- Negotiates with suppliers regarding bid invitations, contracts, cost reductions, etc.
- Oversees the purchasing process, expediting all purchases to the fullest extent and closely monitoring back orders.
- Analyses IEA’s material flow, supplier capabilities and other procurement, and production data to identify trends, pricing concerns and customer needs and correct product performance deficiencies, organizational needs, etc.
- Advises Engendren’s Senior Management Team on financial and operational issues related to materials procurement.
- Prepares and reviews all Purchasing documentation—bids, proposals, vendor agreements—for legal correctness, correct price, and specification acceptability to effect purchases.
- Maintains procurement reporting systems, Purchasing records and supplier/product information.
- Disposes surplus materials and equipment.
- Ensures that all assigned areas and equipment are properly maintained and utilized efficiently.
- Works in a safe manner at all times.
- Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to IEA’s ISO and Quality standards.
- Contributes to the Company’s product and process improvement efforts and supports IEA’s Six Sigma efforts.

Physical Demands:
- Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 10 (seldom).

- Vision requirements: Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.
- Travel: Domestic travel—1-5 days (rarely).
Work Environment:
- Work location(s): Office; metal fabrication/assembly shop; domestic travel to visit suppliers.
- Exposure to: Fumes, airborne particles, wet/humid (non-weather) conditions, toxic/caustic chemicals, and moving mechanical parts/equipment.
- Personal protective equipment requirement: Safety glasses when in shop areas.
Position Requirements:

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office mainly; Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Strong working knowledge of ERP Software.
Skill in negotiation tactics and techniques.
Extensive knowledge of procurement practices.
Basic knowledge of the manufacturing needs, engineering practices and technologies associated with Engendren products.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
- Experiential: Five or more years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Educational: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
- Certificates, Licenses, etc.: Driver’s License.
