Position Overview
Pinewild Country Club is seeking a motivated Greenkeeper Apprentice to support the daily maintenance and care of our golf courses. This role is essential in ensuring optimal course conditions and an exceptional playing experience for members and guests.

The Greenkeeper Apprentice must be currently enrolled in the USGA Greenkeeper Apprentice Program (GAP) and will participate in both classroom and hands-on training. This position is ideal for individuals pursuing a long-term career in golf course maintenance and turf management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Fulfill all requirements of the USGA Greenkeeper Apprentice Program (GAP), including classroom participation, field trips, study materials, and evaluations
• Assist with daily course setup, including tee marker placement, hole locations, litter removal, ball washer upkeep, and general amenity maintenance
• Perform mowing and grooming tasks using both walking and riding equipment to maintain course playability and appearance
• Hand-water turf as needed, including moving hoses and identifying wilt conditions to ensure healthy turf
• Perform hand labor such as raking, shoveling, pushing, and divot repair to maintain course conditions
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum of one month of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be currently enrolled and actively participating in the USGA Greenkeeper Apprentice Program (GAP)
• Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
• Strong awareness of surroundings and understanding of golf course etiquette
• Ability to recognize turf health indicators and follow maintenance best practices
Physical Demands
This role requires regular standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and communication. Frequent use of hands for handling and feeling is required. Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and smelling may be necessary. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Employees in this role are regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and may occasionally encounter moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, or vibration. The noise level is typically loud. Awareness of surroundings—including errant golf balls—is essential, along with adherence to proper golf etiquette while performing duties.
