Duties
- Provide one-on-one instructional support to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders, behavioral challenges, and developmental disabilities.
- Assist students with daily classroom activities, including curriculum-based lessons in literacy, math, and early childhood education.
- Support students’ social-emotional development by implementing behavior management strategies aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Use communication skills such as American Sign Language when appropriate to facilitate effective interaction with students.
- Help manage classroom routines, behavior management plans, and physical assistance needs for students requiring additional support.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, special education staff, therapists, and families to develop and implement individualized lesson plans and curriculum adaptations.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information while documenting progress and behavioral observations accurately.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or students with disabilities in classroom or childcare settings.
- Knowledge of special education practices, including IEP development and implementation.
- Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders support strategies and behavior management techniques for students with behavioral disorders.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and families.
- Background in early childhood education or childhood development is preferred.
- Ability to provide physical assistance as needed for students requiring mobility or other support services.
- Experience working in private schools or similar educational environments is a plus.
- Proficiency in basic math skills and literacy education methods.
