The Senior Database Administrator manages and optimizes our diverse database environment, encompassing both relational (RDBMS) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of database principles, hands-on experience with various database technologies, and a proven ability to ensure data integrity, availability, and performance. This role requires a proactive and collaborative individual who can contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of our critical data infrastructure. needs and operates efficiently. 

Responsibilities

• Configure, and maintain RDBMS (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB) databases.
• Perform database backups, restores, disaster recovery procedures, and implement disaster recovery plans.
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues related to query optimization, indexing, and resource utilization.
• Implement and enforce database security policies, procedures, user access control, data encryption, and conduct security audits.
• Manage database storage, capacity planning, and resource allocation. Implement and maintain database replication and high availability solutions.
• Perform database upgrades and patching. Analyze query performance and identify bottlenecks.
• Develop and implement indexing strategies, tune database parameters, and configurations for optimal performance.
• Tune database parameters and configurations for optimal performance. Monitor and analyze database logs and performance metrics.
• Assist in the development of stored procedures, triggers, other database objects, and work with developers on query design.
• Manage, optimize NoSQL database clusters, and implement security best practices for NoSQL databases.
• Implement and maintain database security best practices. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Maintain comprehensive database documentation and procedures. Document database incidents and resolutions.
• Work closely with developers, CloudOps, and other stakeholders and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in on-call rotations, provide after-hours support as needed, and document database incidents and resolutions.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5 years of experience, Demonstrated expertise in RDMS (SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB), Cloud Databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS SQL Server / Postgres / MySQL, MongoDB Atlas), Proficiency in at least two RDBMS platforms (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
• Experience with cloud-based database solutions like AWS RDS, Google Cloud, or Azure SQL.
• Excellent communication abilities and strong problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
• Knowledge: Strong RDMS (SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB), Cloud Databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS SQL Server / Postgres / MySQL, MongoDB Atlas) skills.
• Good to have SQL Server Integration, SQL Server Reporting, BizTalk skills.
