Role Description:
Idaho Survey Group is seeking a full-time, onsite Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) to join our Boise, Idaho office. This position will work under the direction of a senior PLS and contribute to a variety of survey projects, including land development, boundary surveys, and construction surveying. This role is ideal for a motivated professional with strong technical, communication, and organizational skills who enjoys both office and fieldwork. The position may require overtime and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Client & Team Collaboration:
- Communicate with clients and project teams to understand project goals, challenges, schedules, budgets, and expectations.
Survey Research:
- Conduct research to obtain public and private land records, survey control data, and other pertinent information for boundary, topographic, design surveys, right-of-way locations, and utility mapping.
Project Preparation & Documentation:
- Request and compile information from title companies, municipalities, and agencies; incorporate findings into CAD drawings and project documentation.
Survey Drafting & Deliverables:
- Prepare construction, subdivision, ALTA, boundary, and topographic surveys, as well as legal descriptions and surveying exhibits tailored to client needs.
Field & Office Coordination:
- Assemble field packets, review and process field notes, and coordinate with field crews and project managers to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Surface Modeling & Design Support:
- Manage CAD-generated surface models and produce contours, cross sections, and profile drawings for engineering design.
Field Work:
- Perform field surveying as needed in support of project requirements.
Mentorship:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior survey staff.
Reporting & Collaboration:

- Office Staff
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Idaho Professional Land Surveyor license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required; experience with GPS/RTK systems and robotic total stations preferred.
- Survey Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in boundary analysis, drafting, and construction staking calculations preferred.
- Equipment Operation: Experience operating survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS systems, data collectors, and automatic levels.
- Communication & Organization: Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work outdoors in various conditions.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to operate company vehicles.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation:
Competitive pay, ranging from $100,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
