Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to serve as the Director of Survey Operations – Boise, responsible for launching and leading our new regional office.
This role is ideal for a driven, entrepreneurial surveyor who wants to build something meaningful—combining technical leadership, business development, and team building.
You will serve as the Professional in Responsible Charge, while also developing the Boise market and building a high-performing team aligned with Nexus’ culture and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Office Leadership & Growth
- Establish and lead Nexus’ Boise operations
- Develop and execute a regional business growth strategy
- Build strong client relationships across private and public sectors
- Represent Nexus in the local market and industry organizations
Professional Surveying (PLS Oversight)
- Serve as Idaho PLS in Responsible Charge
- Review, sign, and seal survey deliverables including:
- Boundary surveys
- ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
- Topographic surveys
- Subdivision plats and legal descriptions
- Ensure compliance with Idaho laws and professional standards
- Maintain strong QA/QC processes
Operations & Project Management
- Oversee projects from proposal through completion
- Manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
- Coordinate field crews, CAD staff, and geospatial workflows working closely with Nexus staff in CA.
- Implement and maintain efficient operating procedures
Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit, hire, and mentor field and office staff
- Foster a strong, collaborative team culture
- Provide training, performance feedback, and career development
Technology & Innovation
- Implement Nexus advanced technologies:
- GNSS / RTK systems
- Robotic total stations
- 3D laser scanning
- UAV LiDAR and photogrammetry
- Underground Utility Mark-out/GPR
- Drive efficiency through modern workflows and innovation
Financial Performance
- Support revenue growth and profitability targets
- Assist with proposals, pricing, and contract development
Qualifications Required
- Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Idaho (or ability to obtain within 6–12 months)
- 8 years of land surveying experience
- 3 years of project management or leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of boundary law, ALTA standards, and subdivision mapping
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
Preferred
- Experience leading or building a team or office
- Business development experience
- Familiarity with LiDAR, UAV mapping, or advanced geospatial technologies
Compensation & Benefits Compensation
- Base Salary: $100,000 – $150,000
- Performance Bonus: based on office and individual performance
