Role Description
Idaho Survey Group is seeking a full-time, on-site Office Technician to join our Survey Department in Boise, Idaho. This position is well-suited for a detail-oriented and highly organized professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
The Office Technician will provide essential support for a wide range of surveying projects, including land development, boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. Working closely with Professional Land Surveyors (PLS) and field crews, this role will assist with data processing, project coordination, document preparation, and quality control to ensure the successful execution of survey projects.
This position offers a unique combination of office-based technical responsibilities and occasional field support, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy both analytical work and hands-on involvement in surveying operations.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with clients and internal project teams to understand project goals, schedules, budgets,
and expectations.
Survey Research:
• Gather and analyze public and private land records, survey control data, and other essential information
for boundary, topographic, and design surveys.
Project Management:
• Maintain and organize project data, including survey control, design plans, CAD drawings, and staking
calculations.
Survey Calculations:
• Perform calculations such as slope percentages, angles, bearings, azimuths, coordinates, traverses,
differential leveling, quantities, alignments, profiles, and surface modeling.
Construction Stakeout:
• Assist in establishing construction stakeout points for infrastructure elements such as curbs, storm
sewer, sanitary sewer, and water systems.
Field Crew Direction:
• Provide direction and support to field survey crews to ensure efficient and accurate operations.
Reporting & Collaboration
Reports to:
• Project Manager
• Professional Land Surveyors (PLS)
Works closely with:
• Field Survey Crews
• Project Managers
• Clients
• Office Staff
Required Qualifications:
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Survey Office Technician or Survey Crew Assistant,
and field crew leadership is a plus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required; experience with GPS/RTK systems, robotic total stations, and
survey software.
• Must be able to read and interpret construction plans.
• Experience operating survey equipment such as robotic total stations, GPS systems, data collectors, and
automatic levels.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs and work outdoors when needed.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to operate company vehicles.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation:
$30 - $40 hourly, depending on experience and qualifications.
