Job Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Sr. Manager to work in our Radiological Control Organization. Our team works a 9/80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

  • Provide effective technical assistance/guidance to INL management and staff while identifying Radiological Control requirements, setting laboratory level requirements and policies, establishing and maintaining laboratory level Radiological Control procedures and processes.
  • Identify standard methodologies and improve radiological control processes with an eye toward future needs and budget realities.
  • Manage the organizations many software applications. Including maintenance, enhancement and development of new systems.
  • Ongoing assistance in integrating radiological and safety into process development and work activities.
  • Provide radiological control assistance and coaching that ensure compliance to applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Observe radiological work at INL nuclear and radiological facilities routinely.
  • Responsible to assure that INL Radiological Control program activities, in all organizations across the INL, are adequately implemented and systems are in compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of initiatives, goals, policies and priorities with the management team.
  • Coordinate with facility deployed staff to develop and administer the Directorate’s annual budget; Be a part of the forecast of funding needed for staffing, training, equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Advise the Radiological Control Director, DOE, and other senior management on significant issues related to Program.
  • Provide management and oversight of INL’s implementation of the Energy Employee’s Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) program.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to EEOICPA staff and contracted support staff to accomplish their assigned duties.
  • Track current fiscal year’s budget and plans future budget needs.
  • Lead all aspects of reporting of the monthly financial reports for DOE.
  • Advise DOE-ID EEOICPA Manager of budget shortfalls or financial needs.
  • Oversee development of transmittal letters and delivery of employee records packets to DOL, NIOSH, or DOE. Ensure packets are submitted within required reporting timeframes.
  • Serve on laboratory level management committees responsible for setting Radiological Control requirements and development of policies.
  • Serve as Functional Support Manager for Radiological Control functional area and participate in leading the organization.
  • Support Laboratory and ESH&Q goals of operational excellence and Integrated Safety management

Required Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate & 5 years relevant experience with (2) years of Management/Leadership experience.
  • In lieu of degree, 11 years of radiological controls experience that includes (2) years of management/leadership experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" / "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Certifications

  • American Board of Health Physics, CHP certification.
  • 10 Years of radiological controls management experience that includes (2) years of management/leadership experience.
  • Degree in Health Physics, Engineering, or Physical Sciences.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required. Job Information

  • The target pay range for this position is$158,712- $237,174annually. The full pay range is $107,844 - $274,980. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
