POSITION SUMMARY:
The Valve Technician Lead is responsible for guiding and supporting Valve Technicians and Apprentices while remaining actively engaged in field work. This position provides technical leadership, advanced troubleshooting, and hands-on maintenance of industrial valves and related equipment. The Lead ensures that maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards, while serving as a resource and mentor for less experienced technicians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machines and facility equipment- Provides technical guidance and field support to Valve Technicians and Apprentices
- Assists in training team members on proper maintenance practices and safety procedures
- Diagnoses complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues; develops and implements solutions
- Oversees and participates in emergency/unscheduled repairs and scheduled maintenance activities
- Reviews and ensures completion of work orders, preventative maintenance schedules, and equipment installations
- Performs minor and major repairs on plant equipment in the production facility
- Ensures compliance with OSHA Safety and Health rules and company safety policies
- Performs work in confined spaces and from aerial lifts as required
- Identifies opportunities to improve maintenance processes and equipment reliability
- Collaborates with the Maintenance Supervisor to align field activities with plant goals
- Performs all other duties as assigned or needed
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance preferred
- 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, with strong valve and pump expertise
- Hands-on experience with dairy processing equipment and plant facilities preferred
- Advanced troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Environmental exposure to warehouses stored at ambient (60-70° F), refrigerated (35° F), and frozen (minus 20° F) temperatures.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for short distances on a regular basis.

- Lifting: up to 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. regularly
