The Ice Cream Flex Operator is responsible for operating and supporting various production lines within the ice cream plant. This role requires adaptability to work across multiple machines and processes while providing coverage for breaks, lunches, PTO, vacations, training, and to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production operations.
Essential Functions, Duties And Performance Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Operate and monitor equipment for mixing, freezing, filling, and packaging ice cream products.
- Adjust machine settings to maintain product specifications and minimize downtime.
- Perform line changeovers and assist with start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Rotate between different production lines as needed to meet scheduling demands.
- Provide coverage for absent operators and assist in training new team members.
- Conduct in-process checks to ensure adherence to quality standards and food safety protocols (HACCP, SQF, FDA).
- Report deviations and assist in corrective actions.
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and notify maintenance for repairs.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in food manufacturing preferred; mechanical aptitude a plus .
- Ability to learn and operate multiple types of equipment across production areas.
- Strong attention to detail and adaptability.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Environmental exposure to warehouses stored at ambient (60-70° F), refrigerated (35° F), and frozen (minus 20° F) temperatures.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for short distances on a regular basis.
