Salary: Depends on experience (DOE); $90,000 to DOE.

Location: Boise, Idaho. As Idaho’s capital, Boise is a growing city and offers a rich variety of both cultural and recreational opportunities.

Primary Duties: The Deputy Attorney General for the Consumer Protection Division enforces the Idaho Consumer Protection Act and other consumer laws, including the Idaho Competition Act, Telephone Solicitation Act, Charitable Solicitation Act, and Charitable Assets Protection Act. This position selects cases for enforcement, investigates alleged violations, negotiates settlements, litigates cases, and works cooperatively with law enforcement, other state attorneys general, and federal consumer-protection agencies. Assists with the Division’s informal mediation process and provides consumer education. Provides educational presentations to consumers and businesses, drafts informational publications, responds to legislative inquiries, and assists the Division’s consumer specialists in obtaining business responses to consumers’ complaints.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Admission to the Idaho State Bar and a member in good standing.
  • Minimum two years of relevant legal and technical work experience or coursework.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential data in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to learn internal tracking systems.
  • Experience with public speaking and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer protection litigation.
  • Knowledge of consumer protection principles and complaint resolution processes.
  • Familiarity with applicable consumer protection law and procedures, with the ability to coordinate with legal staff to address complex or high-risk complaints.
