The Idaho Beef Council (IBC) is a state agency established in 1967 to support Idaho’s $1.4 billion beef industry through marketing initiatives funded by the beef checkoff program. This program collects a $1.50 per head assessment on cattle sales in Idaho to fund promotion, research, and education aimed at increasing consumer demand for beef. Governed by an eight-member board representing various industry sectors such as Cow/Calf Producers, Dairy Farmers, Cattle Feeders, and Livestock Markets, IBC plays a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and knowledge of beef products. Board members are nominated by respective organizations and appointed by the Governor for a three-year term. The IBC serves the community by fostering education and awareness of the beef industry’s nutritious offerings and economic value.
Role Description
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide strategic leadership for the Idaho Beef Council, overseeing the implementation of programs aimed at increasing consumer demand for beef through education, marketing, and research. Key responsibilities include managing daily operations, facilitating communication between the Board of Directors and stakeholders, developing business strategies, overseeing financial performance, and ensuring compliance with state regulations. The CEO will also represent the organization at industry functions and drive strategic initiatives to support Idaho's beef industry. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Boise, ID.
Qualifications
- Experience in Finance and Operations Management to oversee budgeting, financial planning, and organizational efficiency
- Proficiency in Business Planning and Strategic Planning to develop and execute long-term organizational goals
- Strong Sales and stakeholder engagement skills to lead marketing initiatives and foster industry partnerships
- Demonstrated leadership with the ability to build relationships across diverse sectors
- Exceptional communication and public speaking skills
- Familiarity with the agriculture or beef industry is highly desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Agriculture, or a related field
