The Deckhand for the Portage Glacier Cruise is responsible for assisting with vessel operations, ensuring passenger safety, and providing excellent customer service. This position supports the captain and crew in the daily operation of the vessel, including deck maintenance, docking procedures, and guest interaction. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist with vessel docking, mooring, and departure procedures.
- Ensure passenger safety by monitoring onboard activity and assisting in emergency situations.
- Provide excellent customer service, welcoming guests aboard and assisting with any inquiries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vessel, including decks, seating areas, and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and assist with minor repairs as needed.
- Assist with safety briefings, emergency drills, and life-saving equipment checks.
- Support the captain and crew with operational tasks and follow all maritime safety regulations.
- Handle ropes, lines, and other deck equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Comply with company policies and U.S. Coast Guard regulations regarding vessel operations.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including cold, wind, and rain.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
